Swissmodern was founded in 1996 by Martin Goray. Spending the majority of his life in Zürich, he studied Art History, Filmmaking and Scenography in Zürich.
Pieces from Swissmodern collection have been displayed in various Design Art Galleries. Many objects found their way to important collections and museums like Vitra Museum, MoMA, Neue Sammlung Munich, Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, to name a few and to various private collectors.
Some collections seek him as a consultant also due to his profound understanding of midcentury design, both the historical and technical aspect of it.
